Network Systems Engineering
Network Engineering is responsible for the planning, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the EMU enterprise data network. The team is currently working through the third year of a four year project to upgrade and standardize the enterprise network. Among the responsibilities of this team are:
- Ensure the integrity and security of the enterprise data network.
- Plan, adminisister, and maintain the copper and fiber optic data cabling that makes up the enterprise network.
- Manage and maintain numerous network servers, including the campus file system.
- Plan, administer, and maintain all enterprise network data electronics (switches, routers).
- Administer the campus Internet connection.
- Administer and maintain the campus firewall/network security systems.
- Secure and maintain enterprise network communications closets.
Network Engineering provides consulting services including:
- Assisting with the addition or relocation of data outlets.
- Planning network growth into new spaces such as new facilities, new computer labs, and renovated spaces.
- Identifying known security vulnerabilities on network servers/systems.
